Getting Around

Getting to Manassas

Manassas is easily accessible from anywhere in the country.

To reach us by train, you may take Amtrak  or local service through Virginia Railway Express (VRE). The VRE is a commuter train that runs primarily during rush hour, Monday through Friday.  Additionally, the Washington D.C. metro system connects to the Omnilink bus service which extends to Manassas.

Travel in a group to Manassas with National Charter Bus. Contact them at 202-250-3441 to explore bus rental options.
Other bus providers include Unlimited Tours Coach DC for corporate or personal trips in the area. Contact them at 410-498-7383 to learn more about their offerings.

If you travel by plane, we have Manassas Regional Airport as well as two major airports in the area:

Dulles International Airport

Reagan National Airport

While the best way to travel throughout the city is by car, there is bus access through the OmniRide and OmniLink services.

Plan your visit

Contact our Visitor Center Manager and let us assist you in planning your trip. Make sure to include our quaint, history-rich town in your next group tour. We’re a great stopping point from Richmond, or on your way to Washington, D.C. You’ll be able to provide your guests with an authentic small town experience.

Getting around downtown

Parking

Visiting for a day or traveling to other areas, the City of Manassas offers numerous parking options in the Historic Downtown area. The museums, shops and restaurants are all within a short walking distance from public parking. All day parking is available in the parking garage for free after 10 a.m., in any space on any level during the week. The parking garage is free to the public anytime on the weekends.

While street parking is free in Historic Downtown Manassas, all public parking is in timed areas. Please be sure to read the hourly information signs before you park.

Parking For Amtrak

Come to the Visitor Center the day before you travel, and we will issue a parking permit for the AMTRAK spaces in the Water Tower parking lot, or designated space on the second level of the parking garage.  A copy of your boarding pass is also sufficient as a parking permit in the AMTRAK spaces. If this creates a hardship, please call 703-361-6599.

Train Information

Historic Manassas is not affiliated with Amtrak or VRE. We are not ticket agents or customer service agents for either train system, however we will be happy to help you find the correct information.
