English Ivy at the Museum

Help remove invasive English Ivy from the trees behind the Manassas City Museum in historic Old Town Manassas. Bring your gloves, clippers, and handsaws to battle the ivy that has invaded every tree, including many large oaks, behind the playground. Tools and gloves will be provided for those who may not have any of the above. Instruction on how to remove/kill the ivy will be provided to all volunteers.

This effort will save many native trees from being killed by the non-native invasive ivy. Native trees provide many benefits to numerous native animal species. Oaks support 534 species of Lepidoptera (butterfly and moth) caterpillars – more than any other native tree or plant.
