Historic Manassas, Inc. (HMI) announces the upcoming departure of Executive Director Kristen Kiefer, who will become the new Executive Director of a well-respected national nonprofit based in Washington, D.C. Kristen will continue to support HMI as a member of its Board of Directors.
Alongside Kiefer, Events and Vendor Manager Jheanel Butler will also transition into a new role as Visitor & Business Services Manager for the City of Manassas, where she will oversee visitor engagement, facility rentals, and retail operations at the Manassas Museum and the City Parks system. Her new role will further strengthen collaboration between HMI and the City in their shared mission to make Manassas a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
Under the leadership of HMI’s Board and staff over the past two years, HMI has seen notable growth as a Main Street program which is financially stable, programmatically strong, and community connected.
To ensure continued momentum, Lisa Harrover Harlow will take the helm as HMI’s Executive Director of Historic Manassas, Inc., effective July 26, 2025. A lifelong Manassas resident, longtime educator, and key operations leader at HMI, Harlow brings deep institutional knowledge, strong civic relationships, and a passion for the city’s success to her new role.
Kristen and Jheanel will remain with HMI through the end of July to support a smooth transition.
“Lisa Harrover Harlow embodies everything that makes Manassas special,” said Mark Olsen, HMI Board Chair. “Her love for this city, paired with her steady leadership, makes her the perfect person to carry our mission forward.”
