Thursday, May 25, was a special and fun day for students from George P. Mullen Elementary School, from Prince William County, who took a field trip to see the Historic Manassas Farmers Market. The children, together with their teachers and parents, learned how the markets work by talking to our Market Master, Ron Taylor. Also, representatives of the City of Manassas, Historic Manassas, Inc., and Historic Manassas Farmers Market sponsor, Micron Technology, welcomed the students and where present that day. If you are interested in bringing a group of students to the Farmers Market as a field trip to learn about business, agriculture, and other related topics, email info@historicmanassasinc.org.
The children had the opportunity to learn about how markets work, trade and where the food they eat comes from. They also had the opportunity to buy things for themselves.
Cookies and cupcakes were some of the products most sought after by children. The vendors were very happy to receive the little ones.
A favorite of young and old is popcorn. Parents, teachers, and students at George P. Mullen Elementary School all enjoyed the delicious taste of Colonial Kettlecorn, one of our regular vendors at the Farmers Market.
The Harris Pavilion, where the Farmers Market takes place every Thursday, has beautiful spaces to sit and enjoy.
The City of Manassas Economic Development Director, Patrick Small, along with Samantha Schrum, of Micron Technology, Inc. which is also a sponsor of the Farmers Market, and Mark Olsen, President of Historic Manassas Inc., welcomed the group of children, parents and teachers from George P. Mullen School to the Historic Manassas Farmers Market.
