"Inspirations" with Pianist Joseph Kingma

« All Events

Mar 4, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Manassas Symphony Orchestra in welcoming Joseph Kingma’s return appearance to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor. Kingma’s playing is described by the New York Concert Review as “[coaxing] the listener into the music’s poetry from the very first notes… showing the command of a master and a composer’s insight. Though his technique emerged through the program as one which is capable of anything, it was always used in the service of the music itself.” The program also includes works by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, John Rutter, and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Joseph Kingma won first prize in the American Liszt Society’s first Franz Liszt International Piano Competition and third prize in the 2022 American Prize Competition. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin with Anton Nel, and his Master and Bachelor of Music degrees from Rice University. Joseph currently holds the position of Keyboard Division Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Piano at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL, where he resides with his wife, Rebecca, and three children, Eliana, Theodore, and Jonathan.

Tickets are available through the Hylton Center Ticket Office Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and online at https://HyltonCenter.org. Adult tickets are $25. Student and children’s tickets are free.
