Flags for Heroes is an annual event that provides an amazing visual display of American Flags on the Manassas Museum Lawn. When Flags for Heroes was started in 2016, the goal was to create a fundraiser that would support our local veterans and first responders while engaging the entire community in remembrance of the heroes that have meant so much to us during our lives. We chose to hold the event around the Northern Virginia Veterans Day Parade as a time to remember, celebrate, and recognize those that have served and sacrificed so much for our freedom and safety, as well as those who continue to serve today.
Thanks to the generosity of the greater Manassas community, this display has grown each year. Just as important, we have been able to provide much needed funds to worthy veterans organizations in our area, all of them serving the heroes among us every day.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Warrior Retreat of Bull Run in Haymarket--a getaway for wounded military and their loved ones as well as other veteran related charities. We ask that each of you take a moment and leave your own message on the board outside of the display for the heroes in your life.
