SUMMARY:ARTfactory Presents Auguster D Williams Jr: A Solo Exhibition of Resilience\, Healing\, and Transformation
DESCRIPTION:On display: March 13\, 2026 – April 19\, 2026ARTfactory\, 9419 Battle St\, Manassas\, VA\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, March 14\, 2026\, 6–8 PM \nArtist Talk: Saturday\, April 11\, 2026\, 2-4 PM\nExhibition programming sponsored by UVA Health. \nIn this solo exhibition\, mixed-media collage artist Auguster D Williams Jr presents a compelling\nbody of two- and three-dimensional works created from discarded and salvaged materials. Drawing\nfrom wood\, glass\, cardboard\, metal\, plastic\, and textiles—often recovered from dumpsters or\ncurbside castoffs\, the exhibition explores themes of resilience\, healing\, and transformation through\nrichly layered\, evocative compositions.\nRooted in sustainability and personal renewal\, Williams’s practice reimagines overlooked materials\ninto cohesive works that blur the boundaries between fine art and functional design. Mirrors\, room\ndividers\, connectors\, and windmills appear alongside wall-based collages\, challenging traditional\nnotions of utility while emphasizing the poetic potential of reuse.\nThe artist’s creative journey began in 2017 while participating in art therapy through the U.S.\nDepartment of Veterans Affairs’ substance abuse and mental health program. A U.S. Navy veteran\nliving with PTSD\, Williams discovered art as both a therapeutic outlet and a powerful form of selfexpression. In 2018\, the collage Love (Thyself) and Resilience received First Place in its category at\nthe National Veterans Creative Arts Festival—an achievement that marked a pivotal moment and\nsolidified a lifelong commitment to artistic practice.\nSince then\, Williams has exhibited work in Washington\, D.C. and New York\, continuing to expand a\nportfolio that centers on repurposing—not only of physical materials\, but of personal identity. Often\ndescribing themselves as a “repurposed human being\,” the artist transforms what was once\ndiscarded into objects of meaning and beauty\, offering a broader reflection on recovery and the\nresilience of the human spirit.\nWilliams’s solo exhibit ultimately encourages audiences to recognize beauty in the unexpected and\nto consider creative engagement as a powerful path toward wellness\, connection\, and community. \nPress Inquiries:\nJordan Exum\, Gallery Director\nARTfactory | Caton Merchant Gallery\n703.330.2787 | jexum@virginiaARTfactory.org\nhttps://virginiaartfactory.org/\nGallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday\, 10 am-5 pm\, Sunday\, 12-5 pm

SUMMARY:Nunsense
DESCRIPTION:Nunsense is a delightfully madcap comedy that follows the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they scramble to raise funds after a culinary catastrophe wipes out most of their convent. When the nuns discover their fellow sisters are accidentally poisoned by the convent cook\, they decide to put on a variety show full of song\, dance\, and holy hijinks to pay for the burials. Led by the irrepressible Reverend Mother and a cast of lovable\, quirky sisters—each with her own outrageous talents and secrets—the show delivers nonstop laughter\, heartfelt charm\, and unforgettable musical numbers. Brimming with quick wit\, clever wordplay\, and irresistible silliness\, Nunsense celebrates faith\, friendship\, and the pure joy of performing. Audiences of all ages will be rolling in the aisles as the sisters tap-dance\, sing their hearts out\, and prove that even the holiest among us can have a heavenly good time. \nPerformances will be held in the Wind River Theater at the ARTfactory. Stadium seating and optional premier seating available\, as well as dessert boxes for an additional fee. \nNunsense is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com

SUMMARY:Artist Talk with Auguster D Williams Jr.
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nARTfactory Presents Auguster D Williams Jr: A Solo Exhibition of Resilience\, Healing\, and Transformation \nOn display: March 13\, 2026 – April 19\, 2026\nARTfactory\, 9419 Battle St\, Manassas\, VA \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, March 14\, 2026\, 6–8 PM\nArtist Talk: Saturday\, April 11\, 2026\, 2-4 PM\nExhibition programming sponsored by UVA Health. \nIn this solo exhibition\, mixed-media collage artist Auguster D Williams Jr presents a compelling body of two- and three-dimensional works created from discarded and salvaged materials. Drawing from wood\, glass\, cardboard\, metal\, plastic\, and textiles—often recovered from dumpsters or curbside castoffs\, the exhibition explores themes of resilience\, healing\, and transformation through richly layered\, evocative compositions. \nRooted in sustainability and personal renewal\, Williams’s practice reimagines overlooked materials into cohesive works that blur the boundaries between fine art and functional design. Mirrors\, room dividers\, connectors\, and windmills appear alongside wall-based collages\, challenging traditional notions of utility while emphasizing the poetic potential of reuse. \nThe artist’s creative journey began in 2017 while participating in art therapy through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ substance abuse and mental health program. A U.S. Navy veteran living with PTSD\, Williams discovered art as both a therapeutic outlet and a powerful form of self-expression. In 2018\, the collage Love (Thyself) and Resilience received First Place in its category at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival—an achievement that marked a pivotal moment and solidified a lifelong commitment to artistic practice. \nSince then\, Williams has exhibited work in Washington\, D.C. and New York\, continuing to expand a portfolio that centers on repurposing—not only of physical materials\, but of personal identity. Often describing themselves as a “repurposed human being\,” the artist transforms what was once discarded into objects of meaning and beauty\, offering a broader reflection on recovery and the resilience of the human spirit. \nWilliams’s solo exhibit ultimately encourages audiences to recognize beauty in the unexpected and to consider creative engagement as a powerful path toward wellness\, connection\, and community. \nPress Inquiries:\nJordan Exum\, Gallery Director\nARTfactory | Caton Merchant Gallery\n703.330.2787 | jexum@virginiaARTfactory.org\nhttps://virginiaartfactory.org/\nGallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday\, 10 am-5 pm\, Sunday\, 12-5 pm
